In early 2006, a group of over 45 local artists with great visions decided that an art based establishment needed to happen in Pemberton. With all their diverse strengths, they founded the Pemberton Arts Council, a non-profit organization with a mandate to create an environment for the advancement of the arts in our community.
The Museum explores the history of the Valley, from its beginnings as a home to Lil’wat Nation – who settled at the foot of towering Mount Currie and at the head of Lillooet Lake – to the arrival of European settlers in the late 1880s, to its role as a farming community. Fascinating historical homes exist on the museum site that date from the late 19th century.
