SLOW FOOD CYCLE SUNDAY MAKES DONATION TO PEMBERTON COMMUNITY GARDEN

Pemberton, BC – Tourism Pemberton, producers of the Slow Food Cycle Sunday, are pleased to be supporting the Pemberton Creek Community Garden with a donation. The Community Garden is managed by Stewardship Pemberton Society.

Partial proceeds from the 2019 Slow Food Cycle Sunday event were earmarked for donation to a community group and/or program with roots in agriculture and farming.

“It’s important to continue to promote local growers and the sustainability of growing/eating local, the slow food movement and agritourism in the area,” explained Mark Mendonca, Tourism Pemberton President.

“We believe in what Stewardship Pemberton is all about and what they are doing in our community. And the Community Garden is such a great part of Pemberton and as the producers of the Pemberton Slow Food Cycle Sunday, Tourism Pemberton is proud to support such a fantastic community program,” Mendonca continued.

The Pemberton Creek Community garden is a volunteer led, organic community garden located on public land in Pemberton near the Pemberton Creek bridge. The garden began in 2005 as a Village of Pemberton initiative with a mere 20 plots. Over the years, the garden has become an independent entity, and joined forces with Stewardship Pemberton Society.

The garden has now expanded to 75 plots including a free plot dedicated to the Pemberton Food Bank under the direction of Stewardship Pemberton.

An official cheque presentation will take place on Wednesday, November 6 at 9:30am at the Pemberton Creek Community Garden.
